Sun Young

I'm going to start another post about one of the restaurants of the most successful restaurant group in Israel (Nishi, Kisu, Pomo and more), Sun Young Restaurant, led by Chef Elad Finish. I went with my friends, we gathered lots and lots of celebrations that had accumulated into one evening and waited in anticipation that he would just arrive.


As usual like any restaurant I come to I have to experience some unusual challenge along the way, maybe in order for me to really appreciate all the good that awaits me in it. This time it was really hard, the traffic jams, the gate of the building not being opened and friends being lost along the way (yes it happened). But we did not give up, because we were hungry, so eventually we arrived at the restaurant.


The restaurant is stunning, with inviting design, fun evening lighting, very wide but intimate areas at the same time, and good service, just the way I like it. The menu is perfect, and everything is really delicious, but here comes a warm recommendation - try to come with 4-5 people, so you can enjoy as many dishes as possible, because there is an interesting and fascinating variety, and I believe after 3-4 dishes your stomach will not be enough satisficed with this menu. For us it worked relatively well, even though we are still looking for more, even after 11 servings.

Squares (59 NIS), red tuna tartar, crispy rice, truffle avocado, green chili, togarashi & sesame oil. The crispy rice was sweet and of course crispy too. The contrast was provided mainly by the tuna tartare and the softness came from the touches of the avocado cream placed on the plate. Yam. #yammmmm

Amberjack Ceviche (61 NIS), with grilled Bruschetta, yellow tomato vinaigrette, preserved lemons, fresh herbs & yuzu. Stunning sour flavors along with a fun freshness of the fish and sauce that we kept scraping from the plate until the last minute, a very tasty dish. But hello? We are 5 girls and on the plate there were only 3 bruschettas, can't you bring two more? #yammmmm

Crispy Rice Cubes (66 NIS), a dish of spicy amberjack, crispy rice, green tomatoes & yuzu koshล. Fun cubes of crispy rice that came with fresh and spicy ceviche, accompanied by a sauce with salty flavors on the side. Make a nice bite on the spoon with a rice cube in the center, adding the ceviche on top and a light dip in yuzu and we are set. #yammmmm


4 dishes have passed and I mostly find out about myself that I really like crispy rice. Nice.


Sea Bass (57 NIS), roast fish fillet, brown butter, sake axis, eggplant in miso & basil oil. If we will read this dish just like that on the menu I do not know if we will be able to understand so much its power. But once it got to our table it was beautiful, delicate and mostly delicious. Gently insert the spoon through the fillet, make sure to get the flavors of the sauces that are placed at the bottom of the plate, pass through the eggplant and really enjoy the warm, pleasant and smoky flavors. #yammmmm

Nems (68 NIS), a dish of crispy rice paper, goose confit, Root vegetables, fresh herbs, chili lime vinaigrette. A delicious dish overall, feels that in general it is very difficult to go wrong with it. But still, I can not forget the Nems of Nishi Restaurant, so it was just nice. #yammmmm


We also ordered some sushi rolls that ran out really fast. The great fun is that you feel that the fish is fresh and high quality and that is always what makes my sushi truly delicious.


A total of 4 sushi rolls arrived at the table (almost half of the sushi menu), each with 8 pieces, so maybe we covered most of this area in the sushi menu. Fish and Chips roll (62 NIS), with sea bass tempura, cucumber, scallions, yuzu koshล aioli & Jerusalem artichoke chips. #yammmmm. Neon Roll (66 NIS), with salmon, avocado, wasabi tobiko. wrapped with seared salmon, spicy mayonnaise, lemon zest and green onion. #yammmmm. Out of Control (68 NIS), spicy tuna & tempura flakes, avocado and red tuna sashimi. #yammmmm. Lemon Twist (66 NIS), with spicy tuna, cucumber, oshinko & lemon sashimi. #yammmmm.


Tataki (72 NIS), a dish of sirloin, crispy potatoes, veal stock & soy sauce caramel (we ate the dish without its sauce). The sirloin was made right, with a fun softness in the mouth, and a great combination with the potato that came in a great crispy texture. You should place the potato on top of a piece of sirloin and it is excellent. But it is important to note that it was delicious to me but not special enough. #yammmmm
